About This Presentation

Description : Psychosocial Aspects of Pediatric Oncology: Supporting Children and Families
Pediatric oncology is not just about treating the physical aspects of childhood cancer; it also requires addressing the profound emotional, psychological, and social challenges faced by children and their families. This presentation, "Psychosocial Aspects of Pediatric Oncology," highlights the importance of holistic care in improving the quality of life for young patients and their families.
Children with cancer often experience fear, anxiety, sadness, and isolation. Age-appropriate interventions like play therapy, art therapy, and counseling help them cope with the emotional toll of their diagnosis and treatment. Siblings and parents, too, face their own set of challenges, including emotional distress, financial strain, and changes in family dynamics. The presentation emphasizes the importance of family-centered care and psychosocial support for all affected members.
Topics covered include emotional coping strategies, the role of multidisciplinary teams, long-term mental health challenges for survivors, and culturally sensitive approaches to care. By incorporating psychosocial support into pediatric oncology, healthcare providers can enhance treatment adherence, build resilience, and improve patient outcomes.
Join us to explore evidence-based strategies for addressing the psychosocial needs of children with cancer and their families, creating a foundation for hope and healing.
