ANTIBIOTIC USE Proper Prescribing
Slide 2-

Scenario Mr. Smith and his 4-year-old son come to my pediatric office. His son was sneezing, had a mild cough, a temp of 100°F, and had right ear pain for the last 3 days. On assessment, the child does not appear dehydrated, but his tympanic membranes in both ears are slightly pink. He does have a red throat, but he is not coughing anything up and his lungs sound clear. His son is cooperative and alert at this time. The father states they are leaving town tomorrow and he would like antibiotics for if the child gets worse.
