About This Presentation

Description : Check out this medical PowerPoint presentation titled "Principles of safe and effective hysteroscopy”.

This medical PowerPoint presentation is about hysteroscopy, a minimally invasive procedure that allows a doctor to examine the inside of the uterus using a thin, flexible tube with a light and camera attached. To ensure safe and effective hysteroscopy, the following principles should be followed:

Patient preparation: Before the procedure, the patient should be evaluated to ensure that hysteroscopy is the best option for their condition. The patient should also be informed of the procedure and given instructions on how to prepare.
Proper equipment: The equipment used in hysteroscopy should be of high quality and properly maintained. The hysteroscope should be sterilized before each use.
Anesthesia: Depending on the procedure, the patient may need to be given anesthesia. The type of anesthesia used should be appropriate for the patient and the procedure.
Visualization: Good visualization is critical to the success of the procedure. The hysteroscope should be carefully maneuvered to provide a clear view of the uterus.
Gentle technique: The uterus is a delicate organ, and gentle technique is essential to avoid injury. The hysteroscope should be inserted carefully, and the surgeon should use gentle movements.
Proper positioning: The patient should be properly positioned to allow for optimal visualization and access to the uterus.
Monitoring: During the procedure, the patients vital signs should be monitored to ensure that they are stable.
Post-procedure care: After the procedure, the patient should be monitored for any complications. They should also be given instructions on how to care for themselves at home.

By following these principles, hysteroscopy can be a safe and effective procedure for diagnosing and treating a variety of gynecological conditions.

Complications Failed procedure - <2% - Cervical stenosis - Blood, gas bubbles Problems due to distension media - Fluid overload Problems due to procedure itself - Infection - Bleeding - Cervical/uterine damage/perforation Anaesthetic problems Incidence serious complications in DIAGNOSTIC hysteroscopy 0.012%
