Pain and why do we feel it? Pain is an unpleasant sensation that usually warns for any type of harm that is happening to the body. It is felt as a response of different types of receptors to a harmful stimuli. The receptors (nociceptors) are characterised as: Mechanical Polymodal Silent nociceptors It can be Fast or Slow pain. It can come from the skin, the viscera, the muscles and from emotions.
