Menstrual cycle The average menstrual cycle takes about 28 days and occurs in three phases: Those phases are : The follicular phase, the ovulatory phase (Ovulation), and the luteal phase.

Follicular phase Starts from 1st day of menstrual cycle Follicular stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone release from brain and reach to uterus through blood, stimulating growth of 15-20 eggs in ovaries each in its own shell called follicle. Trigger an increase in production of estrogen As the phase progress, one follicle become dominant and continue to mature and produce estrogen and remaining others die

Ovarian Phase Starts after 14 days of follicular phase The rise of the estrogen from that dominant follicle trigger a surge in the production of lutenizing hormone, resulting in releasing egg from that dominant follicle into ovaries Also in this stage amount and thickness of mucous that secretes from cervix increase , facillating the movement of sperm towards eggs.

Luteal phase Starts right after ovarian phase After releasing egg , that dominant follicle become empty and develop corpus loteum That corpus loteum secrets progesterone that prepares the uterus for a fertilized egg to implant If conception occurs, fertilized egg will travel through fallopian tube to uterus Otherwise unfertilized egg will pass through uterus.
