Non-contact Therapeutic Touch
Slide 3-

In Therapeutic Touch technique, therapists place their hands near patient's body with the intention to heal. While doing so, the therapists believe that they are consciously directing an individual's energies by interacting with his/her energy field. The focus is on balancing the energies of the total person and stimulating the body's own natural healing ability.
Slide 4-

The therapist holds his/her hands above the patient’s body. The patient is usually seated in a massage chair. The therapist uses meditation to identify the energy field around a patient's body, and then to center and strengthen the connection to the patient's energy field using their hands. Procedure

Early Therapeutic Touch studies by Heidt indicate efficacy in muscle relaxation and stress and anxiety reduction. Later studies recognize physiological effects (pulse amplitude, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature) as well as subjective measures, such as stress, time perception, and self-assessment of health. How might Therapeutic Touch benefit?
