About This Presentation

Description : Check out this medical PowerPoint presentation titled "Muscular Fitness”.

This medical PowerPoint presentation talks about muscular fitness, the ability of your muscles to generate force and power during physical activity. It is a critical component of overall physical fitness and involves a combination of muscle strength, endurance, and power.

Muscle strength refers to the maximum amount of force a muscle can generate in a single contraction, while muscle endurance is the ability of a muscle to sustain repeated contractions over a period of time. Power is a combination of strength and speed, and is the ability to generate force quickly.

Muscular fitness can be improved through various forms of exercise, such as weightlifting, resistance training, and bodyweight exercises. Regular exercise that targets the major muscle groups, such as the chest, back, legs, and core, can help increase muscle mass, strength, and endurance.

Improving muscular fitness can have numerous benefits, including better overall physical function, improved athletic performance, increased bone density, and reduced risk of injury. Additionally, building muscle mass can help boost metabolism and improve body composition, which can have positive effects on overall health and well-being.

Muscular Fitness
Slide 2-

Muscular Strength
Slide 3-

Is the ability of a muscle group to apply muscular force against a resistance one time.
Slide 4-

Muscular Endurance
Slide 5-

Is the ability of the same muscle or muscle group to repeat a movement over a period of time.
Slide 6-

To develop muscular fitness there are two types of exercises that provide resistance to make a muscle work harder than normal. Isometric exercises Isotonic exercises
Slide 7-

Isometric exercises
Slide 8-

Are exercises in which you contract, or tighten, your muscles but do not change their length.
Slide 9-

To perform an isometric exercise you push against a stationary object or against another part of your body that prevents movement.
Slide 10-

What are some examples of an isometric exercise?
Slide 11-

Isotonic exercises
Slide 12-

Are those in which you lengthen and shorten the muscle through a full range of movement while lowering and raising a resistance.
Slide 13-

What are some examples of an isotonic exercise?
Slide 14-

A repetition is the completion of a single, full range movement of the body part being exercised.
Slide 15-

A set is a group of repetitions performed one after the other.
Slide 16-

Strength Training Guidelines
Slide 17-

Warm-up properly before you begin your strength training program.
Slide 18-

You should train with a partner who can serve as a spotter. The spotter ensures the lifters safety, watches and corrects form.
Slide 19-

Exhale when pushing against the resistance and inhale while lowering the weight.
Slide 20-

Go through the full range of motion to increase flexibility.
Slide 21-

Exercise muscles on both sides of the joint to ensure muscle balance.
Slide 22-

Lift the weight on a count of 2. Lower it more slowly on a count of 4.
Slide 23-

Why is it important to have good muscular fitness?
Slide 24-

The person with more muscle looks healthier because muscle is denser than fat.
Slide 25-

It will help you have good posture.Stronger muscles help you perform physical activity better.
Slide 26-

Strong muscles also help: To reduce fatigue. To avoid back pain. To prevent muscle injuries and muscle soreness.
Slide 27-

Principle of Overload
Slide 28-

You must stimulate the muscle - making it work harder than normal.
Slide 29-

In order for a muscle to grow, it must receive adequate nutrients.
Slide 30-

After the muscle has been overloaded and given the necessary nutrients, the muscle must be given time to rest.
Slide 31-

Frequency How often will you strength train?
Slide 32-

Strength Training should be done a minimum of Two times a week.
Slide 33-

Intensity How hard will you strength train?
Slide 34-

This also refers to:The amount of weight liftedStrength is 60%-90%Endurance is 30%-50%
Slide 35-

Time How long will you strength train?
Slide 36-

Is the length of the total strength training routine. Total of Exercises + Sets
Slide 37-

Principle of Progression
Slide 38-

How will I make my strength training workout harder?
Slide 39-

Our bodies adapt to lifting the same stress (resistance/weight). We can/should increase that stress by:Adding weight Adding Reps or SetsAdding Exercises
Slide 40-

Reps: Strength = 3-5 reps per setEndurance = 12-15 reps per setOur Goal = 8-12 reps per set
Slide 41-

Principle of Specificity
Slide 42-

You must overload the specific muscle you want to improve.Example:
Slide 43-

Principle of Rest
Slide 44-

There should be at least 48 hours of rest between workouts of the same muscle group.(every other day)
