About This Presentation

Description : Check out this medical PowerPoint presentation titled "Cardiac Cath".

This medical PowerPoint presentation talks about Cardiac Catherization.

Cardiac catheterization is a medical procedure used to diagnose and treat various heart conditions. During this procedure, a thin, flexible tube called a catheter is inserted into a blood vessel in your arm, groin or neck and threaded through to your heart.

Once the catheter is in place, a contrast dye is injected, and X-ray images are taken to evaluate the blood flow through the heart and blood vessels. This can help identify problems such as blockages or narrowing of the arteries, heart valve problems, or abnormalities in the hearts structure or function.

Cardiac catheterization can also be used to perform certain heart procedures such as angioplasty and stenting to open blocked or narrowed arteries, or to place devices such as pacemakers or implantable defibrillators.

12 Post Catheterization Care Firm pressure is applied to puncture site for 15-30 minutes Wound sites are cleaned and dressed The patient will be observed in recovery for 4-8 hours The insertion site will be checked frequently for signs of bleeding. Medications and discharge instructions are given Lots of fluid should be taken in Vital signs should be monitored for 24 hours
