SAFE CHILDHOOD & HOMOEOPATHY Dr.Harsh Nigam M.B.B.S; MD; MF(Hom)
Slide 2-

UN Convention on “The Rights of the Child 2000” Ten years ago the UN Secretary General has stated “we have no higher priority, no prouder achievement, than our work for the rights of children!”
Slide 3-

A few facts “for we the people” : 250,000 children die every week from diseases and malnutrition. 12 million children die before reaching their fifth year 100 million homeless children living in the streets around the world. 2 million children are objects of sexual abuse - child pornography Millions of girls are ‘missing’ as a result of feticide, infanticide and neglect.

CAN HOMOEOPATHY HELP? In our war against diseases
Slide 5-

POSITION OF HOMOEOPATHY WITHIN MEDICINE 3 ways to help sick individuals: Reduce the strain on the patient's function. Support those functions. Regulate functions.
Slide 6-

POSSIBILITIES OF HOMOEOPATHY “It is impossible that there can be another true, best method of curing dynamic, non surgical diseases besides Homoeopathy” Hahnemann.S. The Organon foot note Para 67, 109
Slide 7-

LIMITS OF HOMOEOPATHY 1. In most urgent cases where danger of life & imminent death allow no time for the action of homoeopathic remedy. 2. In sudden accidents in previously healthy individuals. 3. Surgical diseases. Hahnemann.S. The Organon, foot note Para 67, 109
Slide 8-

Homoeopathic medication does not : Replace missing substance Compensate a component system by the direct route; Counteract reactive processes and suppress them.
Slide 9-

HOMOEOPATHY is: DYNAMIC/ QUANTUM MEDICINE REGULATORY MEDICINE TRATMENT OF CHOICE FOR CHRONIC- IMMUNOLOGIC-NON SURGICAL DISEASES MEDICINE OF CHOICE FOR PROPHYLAXIS (SINCE IT STABALISES UNSTABLE AUTOREGULATORY MECHANISMS).
Slide 10-

HOMOEOPATHY: REGULATORY MEDICINE All living beings have in built regulatory mechanism through which it maintains a steady state/ optimum health / homoeostasis. Homoeopathic medicines apply a stimulus. The organism improves its auto-regulation by reacting to this.
Slide 11-

WE USE HOMOEOPATHY NON SURGICAL CHRONIC DISEASES RECURRENT ILLNESS PROPHYLAXIS & MANAGEMENT OF EPIDEMICS PALLIATION ACUTE DISEASES MEDICAL EMERGENCIES (WHEN DOCTOR TELLS TO PRAY) IMPOSSIBLE HOPELESS CASES (TRIAL OF HOMOEOPATHY)
Slide 12-

HOMOEOPATHY IN ACUTE DISEASES In acute cases with Homoeopathy the response should be measured in minutes or hours, in children.
Slide 13-

Slide 14-

CAUTION! Children can deteriorate as quickly as they can get better. It is important that a child receives a level of supervision, which is appropriate to the severity of the problem.
Slide 15-

CAUTION! Inexperienced or uncertain prescribers, may wish to issue the indicated Homoeopathic remedy and a orthodox prescription for example antibiotics, to be used if the Homoeopathic treatment fails to act.
Slide 16-

HOMOEOPATHY & ANTIBIOTICS / PHARMACO-THERAPEUTIC AGENTS Antibiotics or other indicated chemotherapeutic agents are invaluable and its usage must not be delayed in: Overwhelming infections Where indications for homoeopathic remedies are not clear Apparently well chosen remedy does not work.
Slide 17-

HOMOEOPATHY IN MEDICAL EMERGENCIES I would caution both parents and Homoeopathic prescribers against the use of Homoeopathy in medical emergencies
Slide 18-

HOMOEOPATHY & RECURRENT INFECTIONS Homoeopathic remedies are used to: Raise the general level of health. To make the patient more resistant to infection. To stabilize the frequency and severity of acute episodes.

PARENT SPEAK
Slide 20-

HOMOEOPATHY & RECURRENT INFECTIONS Our approach is simple let the pediatrician manage acutes and we take care of the resistance and reoccurrence.
Slide 21-

HOMOEOPATHY IN CHRONIC DISEASES Homoeopathy is a treatment of choice as immuno-regulatory therapy It’s medicines can raise resisistance and alter biological responses via constitutional treatment
Slide 22-

Slide 23-

A Case Of Atopic Dermatitis After One year after
Slide 24-

HOMOEOPATHY IN BEHAVIORAL DISEASES ADHD, Stammering, Tics, Anxiety states, Conversion syndromes, Pica, Enuresis, Breath holding spells et al. Behavioral Diseases for which modern medicine has no definitive answers Homoeopathy is the treatment of choice.
Slide 25-

School sickness Timidity Fear going to school Fear Dark; Fear being alone Vomiting before going to & in school In class she does not have food
Slide 26-

School sickness: Mother’s Note
Slide 27-

School sickness: Mother’s Note There was a drastic change in her personality the very next day She started going to school happily, No crying She did not vomit In class she started having food
Slide 28-

HOMOEOPATHY FOR MENTALY CHALLANGED A backward child with delayed speech delayed walking or delayed dentition responds very well to our constitutional treatment.
Slide 29-

HOMOEOPATHY FOR MENTALY CHALLANGED Autistic, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Down’s Syndrome the cases where we break bad prognosis to patients those cases must be referred to Homoeopathy along with proper mental training and behavioral therapy there is great scope of improvement. Obviously the prognosis ultimately depends upon the pathology.
Slide 30-

HOMOEOPATHY FOR MENTALY CHALLANGED Down’s cannot be altered basically but constitutional treatment enables the down child to accept some education both physical and mental. Nearly all Mongols benefit definitely by receiving constitutional treatment.
Slide 31-

A Case of Down’s Syndrome BEFORE TREATMENT Poor response to verbal stimuli Dull & Sleepy Icterus Parents came with no hope or expectation on 24/7/7
Slide 32-

A Case of Down’s Syndrome AFTER TREAMENT 12/9/7 sitting with support Rapid dentition Speech bi syllabic Responds to verbal stimuli No icterus
Slide 33-

A Case of Down’s Syndrome 3 Feb 2008 standing with support March 2008 walking with support
Slide 34-

A Case of Down’s Syndrome 4 June 2008 standing without support August 2008 walking without support December 2008 running without support Feb 2009 calls for urine
Slide 35-

HOMOEOPATHY IN INCURABLE DISEASES In all so called incurable cases where nothing can be done Homoeopathy should be given a trial sometimes it works and the response borders to miraculous specially with chronic Neurological states, Developmental anomalies, Hemolytic disorders, Coagulation defects.

HOMOEOPATHY & IMMUNIZATION Homoeopaths are traditionally believed to be against Vaccination We endorse essential immunization We are against unnecessary immunization.
Slide 42-

HOMOEOPATHY & IMMUNIZATION We believe that Homoeopathy offers safe solution to all adverse reactions to vaccination.
Slide 43-

HOMOEOPATHY & EPIDEMICS Homoeopathy offers short-term immunization to viral epidemics that have become a recent phenomenon. Also a safe alternative for management of these viral epidemics.
Slide 44-

CHIKV PROJECT
Slide 45-

HOMOEOPATHY & EPIDEMICS Our research on Genus Epidemicus has given very positive trend and we are confident to hold a double blind RCT on prevention & management of Chikunguniea.
Slide 46-

DISCLAIMER This in short has been my experience with homoeopathic medicinal use in Pediatric cases. I admit that within the Homoeopathic world views might differ. I would welcome a healthy debate within the system so as to issue guidelines to modern medical practitioners.
