Diagnostic and prognostic value of high sensitivity C-reactive protein in patients with autonomic venous thromboembolism Mojtaba Zare Ebrahimabad (MSc) Amirhoushang Poorkhani (MD) Hamidreza Joshaghani (PhD)
Slide 2-

Introduction Venous thromboembolism (VTE) Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) Pulmonary embolism (PE)
Slide 3-

the third most common cardiovascular disease leading to death after coronary artery disease and stroke annual incidence of 0.1% around the world Venous thromboembolism is a chronic disease tends to recur Recognition of VTE recurrence is a major challenge because of the low sensitivity of radiological techniques and existing laboratory tests. Introduction
Slide 4-

The aim of study Investigation of a relationship between high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and D-Dimer as biomarkers for diagnostic purposes and prognosis of the recurrence of spontaneous venous thromboembolism in subjects with a new and history of this disease, respectively.
Slide 5-

Material and methods Case groups 28 patients with new venous thromboembolism in hospital care 52 patients with a previous history of spontaneous venous thromboembolism who were finished in treatment before Control groups 80 healthy subjects, divided into two groups of 28 and 52, who were matched in age and gender with the patient groups

The protocol of study was approved by the Golestan university of medical science ethics committee All patients and controls signed the informed consent before inclusion in the study Biography parameters of participants including age, sex, BMI, blood pressure, and a complete biography of the disease process, treatment, and status of organs, were obtained 7 ml vein blood were taken from all participants D-dimer and hs-CRP were done by ELISA assay All patients with a previous history of the disease were followed up after 18 months of the inclusion date. Results
Slide 8-

Results In the sub clinical patients' group The values of hs-CRP and D-dimer were significantly higher than matched healthy group There was a significant correlation between the increase of D-dimer and hs-CRP (r = 0.661, p <0.0001)
Slide 9-

Results In the sub-clinical patients' group Analysis of ROC curve for hs-CRP showed that values higher than 9.4 μg / ml had a sensitivity of 82.1% and a specificity of 94.4% for the detection of spontaneous venous thromboembolism.
Slide 10-

Results In the second group Patients with previous history of disease, the values of hs-CRP and D-dimer were significantly higher than matched control group There was a positive correlation between the two variables (r = 0.210, p = 0.033).
Slide 11-

18 month follow up Two of patients with a previous history of disease had a recurrence of the disease who were the only patients with hs-CRP and D-dimer results upper than 90% of the population (D-dimer> 1.24 mg/l, hs-CRP> 9.4 µg/ml). Results
Slide 12-

Conclusion The findings suggest serum hs-CRP as a confirmatory and complementary D-dimer test in the diagnosis and prognosis of patients with spontaneous venous thromboembolism.
