About This Presentation

Description : Check out this medical PowerPoint presentation titled "WHAT IS HAND THERAPY?” by John T. Capo, MD.

This medical PowerPoint presentation is about hand therapy, a specialized form of rehabilitation that focuses on the evaluation and treatment of injuries and conditions affecting the hand, wrist, and arm. The goal of hand therapy is to improve the function of the upper extremity, allowing patients to perform activities of daily living, work tasks, and leisure activities.

Hand therapists are typically occupational therapists or physical therapists who have received additional training in the evaluation and treatment of hand and upper extremity conditions. They work closely with patients to develop individualized treatment plans that may include exercises, manual therapy, splinting, and other modalities.

Some of the conditions that hand therapy can help with include fractures, tendon injuries, nerve injuries, arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, and repetitive stress injuries. Hand therapy may also be used to help patients recover from surgery, such as hand or wrist surgery.

Overall, hand therapy is an important part of rehabilitation for those who have experienced injuries or conditions affecting the hand and upper extremity, helping them regain strength, dexterity, and function in their daily lives.

The Importance of Patient Education “I love it when the light bulb goes on and clients finally understand what they need to do to get better. Education about anatomy, tissue healing, and respecting pain really empowers them.” Sheila Yakobina, OTR/L, CHT
