Treatment options for kidney stones depend on the size and location of the stones and may include medications to manage pain and facilitate stone passage, as well as procedures such as shock wave lithotripsy, ureteroscopy, and percutaneous nephrolithotomy to break up or remove the stones. Prevention strategies include staying well-hydrated, maintaining a healthy diet, and managing any underlying medical conditions.

If positive do amino acid chromatography pKa of cystine is 8.3, hence alkalinisisation above pH7.5 helps to dissolve the stones
