Covid-19 vaccination - Who can get inoculated in the 2nd phase and how to register on Co-Win 2 point 0

The second phase of the Covid vaccination drive in India commenced today on 1st March 2021. This phase of the vaccination aims to cover 10 crore people across the country. Talking about our current status, more than 1.5 core people have received Covid-19 shots so far.

States and Union Territories have already been asked to have a vaccination scale-up plan ready. The health ministry informed that health workers and other staff members who will be administering the vaccination will be provided with proper training.

Now let us walk you through everything you should know about the phase 2 of India’s Covid-19 vaccination drive:

Covid-19 Vaccination Eligibility

The guidelines of the 2nd phase of the vaccination drive clearly specifies that people above the age of 60 along with people who fall in the age bracket of 45 to 59 years with specified co-morbidities will be taking the Covid-19 vaccine shots.

The government has specified the following 20 comorbidities that are covered for the vaccination drive.

1. Heart failure leading to hospital admission in past one year
2. Post cardiac transplant/Left Ventricular Assist Device
3. Significant Left ventricular systolic dysfunction
4. Moderate/Severe Valvular Heart Disease
5. Congenital heart disease with severe PAH or Idiopathic PAH
6. Coronary Artery Disease with past CABG/PTCA/MI and Hypertension/Diabetes on treatment
7. Angina and Hypertension/ Diabetes treatment
8. CT/MRI documented stroke and Hypertension/Diabetes on treatment
9. Pulmonary artery hypertension and Hypertension/ Diabetes on treatment
10. Diabetes (>10 years or with complication) and Hypertension on treatment
11. Kidney/Liver/Hematopoietic stem cell transplant: Recipient/ On wait-list
12. End stage Kidney Disease on haemodialysis/ CAPD
13. Current prolonged use of oral corticosteroids/ immunosuppressant medications
14. Decompensated cirrhosis
15. Severe respiratory disease with hospitalisations in last two years/ FEVI <50%
16. Lymphoma/ Leukaemia/ Myeloma
17. Diagnosis of any solid cancer on or after July 1, 2020 or currently on any cancer therapy
18. Sickle Cell Disease/ Bone marrow failure/ Aplastic Anemia/ Thalassemia Major
19. Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases/ HIV infection
20. Persons with disabilities due to Intellectual disabilities/ Muscular Dystrophy/ Acid attack with the involvement of respiratory system/ Persons with disabilities having high support needs/ Multiple disabilities including deaf-blindness

Covid-19 Vaccination Registration

People who are eligible to get vaccinated in the second phase of the Covid-19 vaccination drive are required to get themselves register on the Co-Win platform.

You can register on Co-Win 2.0 portal - http://www.cowin.gov.in/ - opened at 9 am on 1st March 2021.

You can self-register on the portal in advance by downloading the Co-Win 2.0 portal or via applications such as Arogya Setu app etc. This will show the government and hospital bodies acting as Covid Vaccination Centers (CVCs). You can also check the date and time of the available schedules once you are registered on the app. As soon as you are done with your registration, you can then select your preferred Covid Vaccination Center and freeze an appointment for vaccination.

You can register with your mobile number that will receive an OTP with which your account will be created. you can also get your family members registered through this account. Registrations of four people can be done with the help of one mobile app. You can also get yourself registered through the Aarogya Setu app by verifying the One Time Passwords (OTPs).

If for any reason you are unable to register yourself through the app can directly visit the vaccination center along with required documents and get yourself registered.

Documents for Covid-19 Vaccination Registration

A government ID proof will be sufficient if you are above 60 years. If you fall in the age bracket of 45 to 59 years, you will have to upload a medical certificate mentioning your comorbid conditions.

The medical certificate mentioning comorbid condition can either be uploaded on Co-Win2.0 during self-registration or a hard copy can be produced at the CVC.

Covid-19 Vaccination - Cost of vaccination

The vaccination is free of cost at the government facilities. It is however, paid at private facilities. The government has put a cost cap of INR 250 per dose of the Covid vaccines at private hospitals.

Where can people get vaccinated?

The government has informed that approximately 10,000 private hospitals under Ayushman Bharat PMJAY, 600+ hospitals under CGHS and other private hospitals under states are being involved to facilitate the vaccination drive.

The health ministry has come out with two lists of private hospitals empanelled for Covid vaccinations.
